Aurora Labs operates advanced 5-axis CNC machining systems, including a DMG MORI DMU 50 and DMG MORI NLX 2500 / 700. These systems enable the manufacture of complex, high-precision components for aerospace, defence, and propulsion applications. These platforms support simultaneous multi-axis machining and mill-turn operations, allowing the production of complex geometries and critical features with high accuracy and repeatability.
Complex Geometry & Precision Manufacturing
The DMU 50 provides true 5-axis milling capability, enabling the efficient machining of contoured surfaces, compound angles, and intricate features in a single setup. This reduces re-clamping, minimises cumulative error, and delivers consistent dimensional control for tolerance-critical components.
The NLX 2500 / 700 mill-turn system combines turning and milling operations in one platform, enabling the machining of high-precision rotational components, complex bores, and integrated features without multiple transfers, improving accuracy and throughput.
From Development to Production
The 5-axis CNC capability supports the full manufacturing lifecycle — from prototype and test hardware through to low- and medium-volume production. This flexibility allows rapid iteration during development while maintaining the process stability required for production and qualification programs.
Integration with Metal Additive Manufacturing
5-axis CNC machining at Aurora Labs is tightly integrated with the metal additive manufacturing operations. Additively manufactured components are precision finish-machined on the DMU 50 and NLX 25
